The Big Sing was a North West U3A event held at Quaker Meeting House, School Lane in Liverpool on 5 September. One hundred and twenty five members attended from all over the NW, even as far as Carlisle. The day was facilitated by Stuart Overington a conductor with the Hallé Orchestra. Everybody learned about the skill of singing and sang several songs all together in the afternoon, most in four parts. As usual when different U3As get together, the event provided the opportunity to meet members from all other areas and exchange ideas. It was a wonderful fun-filled day. The event will be repeated next year as it was so successful. | Three members from our U3A, Sylvia, Marion and Margaret, came not to sing but to make and serve endless cups of tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes. An army marches on its stomach! Gill Russell, our trustee, thanked Sylvia, Marion and Margaret for all their help. Indeed, several members expressed their thanks to them for their kindness and efficiency. |
